  • Your Whole Brain is Creative

It’s not just your right brain that’s creative. Your whole brain is creative.

Much more of that magical three pound organ you possess gets involved than just parts of the right hemisphere. If you’d like to understand the process better, read this Scientific American article titled, The Real Neuroscience of Creativity, by science writer Scott Barry Kaufman. Much of the creative process uses more than one part of the brain. Often those parts are in both the left and right hemisphere, and they work well together.

your whole brain is creativeThe relevance of this to neurofeedback is that NeurOptimal®, the state-of-the-art system we use at New York Neurofeedback, trains the brain globally.

    NeurOptimal® neurofeedback for creativity

Unlike traditional neurofeedback, which targets specific areas of the brain and targets ranges of EEG (electroencephalograph) activity based on protocols, NeurOptimal® gives your brain information about what it’s doing moment to moment during each training session.

Your brain uses that information to organize itself in the way that is uniquely right for you. There is no pushing or pulling your brain in a protocol-based direction. This makes NeurOptimal® virtually without side effects. And can free you up to be your creative best at whatever you take on in life.

Are you in the arts and concerned that you need to suffer to be creative, that you need your dark side? Working in New York City, many creative people have made their way to my office. My experience working with artists, musicians, actors, etc., is that all of them reported more access to creativity, not less. Often they developed better understanding of their own creative process.

It really helps to be more fully present at an audition, for example, instead of being anxious. It’s a lot more fun, too.
