  • Neurofeedback and Fractals

Many of the images on this blog and on the New York Neurofeedback website are fractal images. If you’re intrigued, here is a wonderful NOVA episode called, “Fractals – The Hidden Dimension.”

What is the connection to neurofeedback? All systems in nature are non-linear dynamic systems (somewhat predictable, somewhat random, responding to stimuli). Fractal geometry is the mathematics that represents those systems, and fractals are graphical representations of those equations.

Neurofeedback works with the central nervous system – your brain and spinal cord – the most complex system on Earth and very much a non-linear dynamical system. That makes fractal images perfect for New York Neurofeedback.

They are also often beautiful. People find them soothing in a similar way to how we feel when we’re in nature. Interesting, isn’t it?

If you’d like to learn more, visit the Fractal Images page of NYNF’s website. You can also ask questions here on the blog or email me.
